The Hilly and Rocky Roads to Mt. Linabo

Before the sacrifice climb to Linabo Peak, we first sacrificed out bikes' wheels to run through the hilly, a bit zigzag and rocky roads.

 

A motion picture this is! Credit to my sister Cheem for taking the pictures to my command while I was driving. Great job! Now I know I drove that fast. 

Then there goes the rocky road! It was my first time to actually driving a bike on hilly and rocky roads and it wasn't easy! You've got to have strong arms to hold the handlebars. Going there by car would be easy but not when you reach the parking area for you'll truly be having a hard time looking for a space especially when going there right on Holy Thursday. 

Since we went there on Good Friday, looking for a parking space was easy. I wasn't able to take a picture of the parking area that day but I have here a photo taken by Cheem on Holy Thursday. Parking fee was Php30.00 per bike. 

So finally we arrived at the foot of Mt. Linabo after the 10 to 15 minutes drive from the main road. We were all excited for the climb. To be continued.....

The Drive To Mt. Linabo

It was Good Friday. The idea to climb to the 3003 steps to Linabo Peak just popped in my head at the last minute. I asked Cheep to climb with me since we weren't able to climb on the Holy Thursday, which she agreed. Pabz and Cheem, who climbed already on the Holy Thursday excitedly went to climb with us too. Darn, weren't they tired?

So all four of us got ourselves and our two bikes (mine and Cheem's) ready. We left the apartment around 2:00pm. We were all excited. There we drove down the center city to look for a gas station. Cheem's bike, which I was driving that day with Cheem was out of gas. Pabz on the other hand drove mine with Cheep. It was a bit chaotic search for a gas station for there wasn't one gas station opened that day. Every single station is closed even the stores. Darn again! Where could we find gas and where could we find a store to buy foods to bring along our climb? Good thing, there was this sidewalk stall we saw selling bottled gasoline as we headed out Dipolog City to Turno. The foods? We bought enough at Quick Pick, good thing it was opened. Thanks to the owner Kevin for opening his store on the Good Friday or else we'll be buying foods at the stores in Linabo with doubled prices!

Anyway, we headed to our drive to Mt. Linabo. It was a smooth drive halfway there for the road, although hilly and zigzag, was concrete.

Cheem Almost at the Peak of Mt. Linabo

This is a continuation to my previous post about my sister Cheem's sacrifice climb to Mt. Linabo with our friend Pabz last Holy Thursday, April 5, 2012.

I am so proud of her for she had trekked up the 3003 Steps in Mt. Linabo and climbed another more steps to reach the peak where a satellite tower is situated and is the perfect camping spot. Sadly though they weren't or all the climbers that day weren't allowed to climb up the peak and camp.

(This is for Blue Monday and Mellow Yellow Monday)

Just as the banner stated, it is not allowed to camp and stay overnight at the peak. All climbers must go down at exactly five in the afternoon.

Being left with no choice, campers that day just suited themselves to put up their tents at the foot of the peak and on any flat areas of the mountain. I tried enhancing the photo above so you can see the tents.

The three photos above were taken when Chem and Pabz were on their way down from the
almost-peak (yeah almost) of Mt. Linabo. Here are the photo on their way up. 

The spot overlooks Dipolog City. These people taken in the picture are just some of the climbers. Some of them are disappointed for not being able to climb the peak. 

And Cheem sure was one of those who were disappointed. She was curios what lies at the very peak of mountain, what's special about the tower and on what to see up there. Still though I am proud of her endurance. According to Pabz, she climbed fast as if wasn't tired. 

Yet here's how she looked like. All sweaty and for sure....tired. Well, disappointed too. She wanted to climb the peak! No wonder she was eager to go with me and Cheep when I decided to climb the next day.  

The Climb to Linabo Peak

Yesterday, my friend Pabz and my sister Cheem asked me to go with them to climb up to Mt. Linabo Park or popularly known as Linabo Peak in Dipolog City. In order to reach the peak (or I don’t know if one could ever reach it) of Mt. Linabo, you first have to go through the 3003 steps. Climbing up the 3003 Steps in Mt. Linabo has been a practice of the locals here during the Holy week. Why, because it is where the procession after the holy mass is done for the 3003 steps cover the 14 Stations of the Cross.

Warning: Please use the Concrete Steps in climbing up/down to avoid accidents.

Have they ever reached the peak though? Well, they did and the photos will be posted next time. I am envious looking at their photos and I feel like climbing up there right now. Hmp? Maybe. 

Fourth Visit to Cut and Clear Salon

My first visit to Cut and Clear Salon inside Lee Plaza was when I got cellophane hair treatment. I got my already brown-colored hair colored into reddish brown. The second time was when I treated my younger sisters there for foot spa while I had the hot oil treatment. The third time was when I got a new hairstyle. Then recently, I visited the same salon again to give myself and my sisters a manicure and pedicure treat. It's clear to say that I started to frequent the place, which means I like their attentive and friendly service. 

It was my first time to try their manicure and pedicure service. Pedicure at Cut and Clear Salon cost Php100.00. They soak the feet first in a tub of treated water with stones and marbles where you can do a self feet massage. It felt very relaxing.

Here are my little sisters Cheep and Cheem. Looks like they are enjoying my treat.

Manicure on the hand cost only Php60.00. It includes a short hand massage. I liked it a lot that I almost asked for more time. But heck, we were in a hurry for it was almost dinner time. Both manicure and pedicure took about an hour to finish. It was enough time to have a salon bond with my younger sisters.

Attended MTV Exit Traffic Jam

I attended MTV Exit Traffic Jam last Friday held at Dipolog Sunset Boulevard wherein many of the local rock bands here in Dipolog and bands from Metro Manila gathered together, showed off their talents and rocked the stage.

It was a free live concert for a cause made possible by the groups of Anti-Human Trafficking advocates along with the generous sponsors. To name one of the sponsors was Bewear Apparels, a local indie store of custom printed tees in Dipolog City owned and managed by a friend.

Dinner At CLS Food Plaza

 

 We had a father-daughter bonding slash dinner last night at New CLS Food Plaza here in Dipolog City. It was an unplanned dinning in the said diner but because my electric burner crashed coincidentally just in time for dinner last night, I thought of just taking my father out and sisters and had our dinner at our favorite diner CLS. Besides, dad has been craving for Sinigang na Bangus and I thought CLS has it.

Cheep still wearing her P.E. uniform stroke a pose with Papa. Notice the rhum on the table? That is our father's water. He drinks rhum and/or coconut wine everyday. We, his daughters are used to it now. Well, I stuck with my favorite lemon grass iced tea while my sisters had mango juice.

Anyway, we had Balamban Liempo, Sweet and Sour Pork, Bicol Express, and of course the Sinigang. It was my first try of Bicol Express from CLS kitchen and theirs is way better than the ones I've tasted before.

Here's the Sinigang. It is not Bangus though but Marlin, CLS was out of milk fish that night. It was all good. At least we got to have some sour soup. Sigh! It's still nice to eat sinigang that is not cooked by yourself. I ate most of the spinach and never touched a slice of okra. 

My best gay friend was in the picture that night too. To pay Pabz unconditional help that comes over in just one call, respect and loyalty to us, I took him with us to dine out too.

Just One of Those FB Nights

No, I don't mean the Facebook "FB" but Fuse Box bar cafe, one the the bars in Dipolog City that I love to go to. Just sharing here one of those 'worth-it' night out parties in Fuse Box with classmates and friends. I was able to meet nice and annoying people plus I received a gift certificate from Mary Kay.

Out of the blue, this friendly guy approached me. He was at the bar counter in FB, which is my favorite spot there.

He was with this not-so-friendly girl who seemed to be the new cashier. When I secretly asked someone who the guy was, I was informed he's the brother of the owner of Fuse Box.Whew! Meanly socializing costumers, for sure.

But why is it that of all the lady costumers in there, I was the only one whom he handed this Mary Kay gift certificate? Maybe because I frequent the place.

Bar Hopping Fun

Bar hopping, drinking, and moving with the beat, in short partying out at night is a fun thing to do. I love doing it with friends who could relate to my style, who could buy me a drink and who could take care of me when I get drunk. I have one friend who's reliable when it comes to that. That's why I've been out partying lately just to enjoy and forget problems even at least for a short period of time.

When I go out, one thing I would pay attention to is the music and on how a DJ do a remake of the music being played. There is one particular bar where I love to hang out here in this city I reside. It is called Fuse Box. The place is not that grand but it is one of the most favorite hangouts of the many party goers. It is just a small place but as to what I experienced, the crews are friendly, the DJ who happens to be one of the owners is cool and he mix music nicely. That I think are the reasons why many party goers visit the bar even during weekdays. I, in particular like the DJ for he dances along with the music. I was lucky one night I was able to peek on the DJ Equipment he got on his little booth while he was playing a nice beat. I was quite drunk then that I even accidentally poured some beer on his mouse but the DJ was cool enough to smile at me and said it was alright.

Here are more photos taken in 811, a new karaoke bar in the city. As I mentioned in my previous post, I was invited by a new friend who was introduced to me by my college friend Pabz. It was the night when Claire and her boyfriend celebrated the latter's last two days in the Philippines. I already missed the fun we had in there that night.

I am very thankful to Pabz for meeting these wonderful girl friends whom I can relate to since they as well are in interracial relationships. They are the kind of friends who have no ekk-ekk and sign of kaartihan. They are full of fun and don't care what other people think of them. They simply want to have fun - that's what I like in them so much!

Children's Playground at Dipolog City Boulevard

Do you want to play? The boulevard here in Dipolog City is one of the places where families love to hang out during late afternoon onwards. People of different standing in life go to the boulevard to either hangout with friends or perform exercise routines like jogging and aerobics. The boulevard is packed with early joggers too during early dawn. 

The latest progress in the boulevard nowadays is the children's playground that is built facing the ocean, a perfect area for a whole family to watch sunset together.

One of the games your kids would enjoy. 

It's beautifully painted with a parade of bright and lively colors 

yellow, blue and red in a clean and green surroundings. 

It is very convenient for parents who do daily exercises every afternoon to take their children along with them at the boulevard because the children can as well enjoy their share of exercises by playing slides and other games at the play round. The playground is safe because it is gated that keeps the children from the threat of the road. A brilliant idea isn't it? Then in time of dinner, there are several options on which restaurants or eateries nearby they want to dine in.
