Scenic Sunday #20

How many Sundays did I miss at Scenic Sunday? Well, I missed a lot. To make it up with you, here are photos from my old archives.
Scenic Sunday

This was the view of Sunise beach resort in Baliangao last 2007. We were there for the funeral of my grandmother on my father's side. Then the day after the burial, we went to their local beach resort there, the cheaper one for that was all we could afford. Although the resort lacked luxury, the place was quite scenic and the sea was perfect for some dips. It's the reason why we were there after all, so it's the sea that mattered most.

In the photo were my brother and our dog Snoopy.
Snoopy was 3 years old then and is 8 years old now.

According to the caretaker there who knew my father, Sunrise used to be a nice place and usually packed during weekend for family and friends gatherings. That year though, when we were there, the beach was neglected. For now, I don't know how the place looks like, if it had progressed or had been totally neglected.

Scenic Sunday: Boracay Boat Staion 1

Scenic Sunday

The picture above which was taken in Sept. 06 shows the boat station 1 in Boracay. The boat was the final ride to our destination, to the paradise-like hideaway. It was a very exhausting trip taking 4 rides but as soon as we arrived in Boracay, all the exhaustions were gone. That day we arrived in Boracay was a perfect day having a perfect weather.

Scenic Sunday: Boracay 2006

Scenic Sunday
One of the giant sand castles in Boracay, of about 3 to 5 feet tall.

The date as to when I took this picture can be seen in the picture itself, Sept. 07, 2006. It was my first step in the beautiful Island of Boracay. My second is still unknown up to this moment. I will come back there eventually for the pain that this beautiful Island have caused me is totally gone. What's in my mind right now is all good things I saw in there. So guys, if you want to relax and enjoy summer at the same time, go to Boracay.

Scenic Sunday: Banaue Rice Terraces

Scenic Sunday
Banaue Rice Terraces or Hagdan-hagdang Palayan ng Banawe
(All the photos uploaded here are properties of my friend who visited Banaue Rice Terraces)
I asked my friend (in the photo) if I can steal these pictures from her FB album and she said ok. Banawe Rice Terraces is one of the must-see wonders in the Philippines. Getting there by bus will take you about 8 to 9 hours from Manila to Banaue Sub Station in Ifugao. From there, you can ride a tricycle, jeepney, or hire a van with a driver and a guide.
Source: wikipedia.org
Banaue Rice Terraces are 2000-year old terraces that were carved into the mountains of Ifugao in the Philippines by ancestors of the indigenous people. The Rice Terraces are commonly referred to by Filipinos as the "Eighth Wonder of the World". It is commonly thought that the terraces were built with minimal equipment, largely by hand. The terraces are located approximately 1500 meters (5000 ft) above sea level and cover 10,360 square kilometers (about 4000 square miles) of mountainside. They are fed by an ancient irrigation system from the rainforests above the terraces. It is said that if the steps are put end to end it would encircle half the globe.

Scenic Sunday # 12

A view from the terrace of a friend's house. It is relaxing isn't it? I missed being in that gazebo playing cards with my co-gamblers. We will surely visit there again one day.

Scenic Sunday 11: Tagaytay Picnic Groove

This is the picnic groove in Tagaytay, Philippines. This is an ideal family picnic place. With the fresh air and the beautiful and scenic sorroundings, the whole family will surely enjoy in there. There are cottages available for renting for an overnight stay. It has a mini park for the kids to play and even horseback riding. The place is indeed a place to relax, to have fun and to forget work.

Scenic Sunday 10: Snake Island

Snake Island, Puerto Princesa
(click on the photo for a larger view)

This picture was taken during our Island hopping in Honda Bay in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Snake Island is one of those many islands you can see in Honday Bay. They call this island a Snake Island because of its long and thin figure.

Scenic Sunday 9: Boracay Beach

Boracay, Philippines

Although Boracay didn't leave a very pleasant memory into my life but the place really is a paradise. Once, this place had became my paradise of tears and heartaches but I am looking forward to go back to the place and erase those bad memories. Someday, I will!

Scenic Sunday 8: Taal Volcano

Taal Volcano is a complex volcano on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. It is situated between the towns of Talisay and San Nicolas in Batangas. It consists of an island in Lake Taal, which is situated within a caldera formed by an earlier, very powerful eruption. It is located about 50 km (31 Miles) from the capital, Manila. It is one of the active volcanoes in the Philippines. source: wikipedia

Check out the aerial photo of Taal Volcano. It is hard to take picture of the whole volcano, unless you are on a private jet. (lol). (This photo is also from wikipedia.org)

Scenic Sunday # 7

Ok, I am taking this blog for granted now. If you noticed, I seldom update this blog compared to the rest of my blogs. I am just glad that I joined Scenic Sunday, at least I am posting once a week. So, ok, it is time for Scenic Sunday once again. I have here the picture I took while riding the boat that took us to the shore to ride another boat again to the Underground River in Palawan. I hope you like my photo today

Scenic Sunday: Underground River Entrance

It's Scenic Sunday once again. I have few Scenic Sunday absences now, please accept my apology. I have here a picture of the Underground River entrance in Palawan. I took this picture as we were on our way in the cave. I was wondering how dark and how scary would it be inside. Yes, it was dark and scary but with the help of the tour guide's flashlight we were able to see the wonders of nature inside enough for us to move in farther to see more works of nature. It was indeed a great experience for me.

Scenic Sunday 2

The view of that pointed mountain had captured my fancy as we were in the midst of our city tour in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. I was inside the van as I took this picture and I am glad that the camera lens captured it nicely to think it was a quick click. I wish you all a happy and blessed Sunday

Scenic Sunday 1: Luli Island

This is my first post for Scenic Sunday Meme. Above is a picture of Luli Island in Puerto Prinsesa, Palawan. I took this picture while I was on the boat as we (hubby and I) were getting nearer and nearer to the beautiful Luli Island. By the way, this island is called Luli as a short name for Lulubog-Lilitaw Island which is "Sinking and Floating Island" in English. During high tide, the island sinks and all you can see are the roofs of the cottages.
