"Let's Add" Taxi Policy In Cebu?

When I took my husband in Cebu for his flight to Tokyo the next morning on Thursday September 2, which was my second time there, I had the same problem with taxi drivers. Not maybe all but those taxi drivers I have encountered,  they have this "Let's Add" policy, same with the first two taxi drivers we had during our (hubby and me) first time there. Yes, let's add!

As in...

Taxi Driver: (driving on the way to the hotel near the airport. i cant remember the name of the hotel for now but I know it was a cheap hotel enough for a night stay) Let's add 100 pesos ma'am to the meter.
Me: (stopping myself to say WTH?)  Why (in a calm voice)?
Taxi Driver: (scratching his head) Because ma'am, it is already 7:30 pm, there will be no more passengers on my way back
Me: So it is my fault if you'll get no passengers on your way back?
Taxi Driver: (no response)
Me: You know what, your city is a beautiful city. It is very busy. It seems like there are lots of opportunities here...lots of ways to make money.
Taxi Driver: Yes ma'am.
Me: It is my second time here yet nothing change with the taxi drivers so far. Still pieces of sh8s. There should be at least 1 honest taxi driver around here.
Taxi Driver: (silent for a few then) Just add 100 pesos ma'am, gasoline nowadays really is expensive.
Me: (telling about the 100 pesos additional fare to hubby)
Hubby: (in an irritated voice) Fine! Just drive faster, I am hungry and so is my wife. My wife haven't slept yet. So take us to the hotel as fast as you can.

After that conversation, everyone was silent. Hubby was just holding my hand the whole taxi trip. I know he doesn't like Cebu since he was fooled in there. Well, I am thankful of Cebu. Thankful that a girl from Cebu fooled him for he run to me, he run to Manukan. Lol!

So we reached to that hotel I booked myself, thank God. for we were really hungry and exhausted. Hubby paid the taxi as to the numbers marked on the taxi meter forgetting about the additional fee. It was only about 80 pesos something. Then I handed the 100 pesos additional fare to the driver. 

Me: Kuya,  if we happen to be riding this taxi again tomorrow morning to the airport that would be very great. But if you will ask again for additional fare, I will really break your meter. It is of no use anyway. Here's the additional fare, hope you will not use that money for your family for it is a bad money. You got it in a bad way.  

Then the taxi driver.....off he drove.... (Stay Tuned for my last and my more horrible encounter with a scamming taxi driver in Cebu)

Cebu City is a big city. I like it for I felt while there that oppurtinities are everywhere. I am not saying that because of these few scamming taxi drivers, Cebu as a whole is already a bad place. Maybe those taxi drivers are only doing it for those who are with foreigners and unlucky are those who are fooled. Well, I've been unlucky in Cebu so far but I know there is something good in Cebu. Hopefully, i'll encounter "that something good" when I visit there the next time.
