What do you call a place in the mountain that has fresh flowing water swimming pool? Well, I have no idea but I would call it mountain resort but it is known as “Saluyong”. That mountain resort can be found in the barrio of Saluyong, under the governance of Manukan, Zambo. Del Norte, Philippines. It is just a few minutes jeepney ride from Poblacion Manukan where my parents reside.
Saluyong is indeed a place for people who seek relaxation and the solitude of the mountains to escape the noise of the city for some hours. It is also a place to enjoy with the whole family and friends. The trees, the mountains and the green surroundings would cheer your eyes with the beauty of nature not to mention the fresh air. Saluyong is most proud of its swimming pool with fresh flowing water from the mountain that would surely chill you to the bones. This swimming pool is actually the reason why people keep coming back to the place.
Saluyong is only open from 7 am to 6 pm. Yep, Saluyong is good only for a day out, a day to enjoy but a day is all worth it. The place has cottages for rent from 100 to 150 pesos which is enough for a family of 10 or more. The entrance fee is 30 pesos, if I am not mistaken. You can bring your own foods and drinks and the most enjoyable part for me is cooking fish barbecue. Take note: bring your own charcoal.
