For those who do not know what Manukan is, Manukan is my hometown. It is a municipality in the province of Zamboanga del Norte in the Zamboanga Peninsula in the island of Mindanao, Philippines which composed of 22 barangays. It is located 38 kilometers west of Dipolog City, where I currently reside.
Like Cebu City, Manukan also celebrates Sinulog festival since 1991 if I am not mistaken. On Sunday, January 24, 2010, Manukan again celebrated the fiesta of Santo Niño (Holy Child Jesus).
The celebration started around 1:00 in the afternoon (usually around 6 in the morning but they changed it so no contingents from other barangays will be late) with a play of meeting the figure or image of the Holy Child Jesus (Santo Niño) at the seashore. The figure was placed on a canoe along with or guarded by chosen persons.
