Welcome To Fort Santiago

It has been a long time since i made my last post in this blog. For me it is real hard to update or manage two blogs since i am studying and have to take care of my husband and do the household chores. Now i am going to continue my post about our tour in Fort Santiago, Manila. Though i can not provide here the full information about the certain place but there are some facts i knew from our tour guide.

Fort Santiago is one of the most popular remnants left by the Spaniards 300 years ago. It was used to be the seat of colonial powers and a dreaded prison of the helpless Filipinos. Can you imagine the pain of being enslave and jailed in your very own country? Anyway, those days have passed by and here we are now breathing freely. I would like to share with you some photos taken in Fort Santiago.

Fort Santiago or Fuerza de Santiago in Spanish is a defense fortress that was built for the Spaniards during Spanish times. The fort is just a part of the walled city of Intramuros, Manila, located at the mouth of Pasig River. If before the fort was used for defense, now it only serves as a museum that house well-preserved legacies of the Spanish government. The place really is a must-see, worthy enough to spend a day tour inside the fort.

The footprints that you see on the ground is our National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal's footprints as he walked to his place of execution. It symbolizes his last walk to martyrdom. To be continued........
